Seeking volunteers to use a sun protection app

Many Australians still get sunburnt on a regular basis, despite having good knowledge and sun-protective intentions.

QUT researchers want to assess the impact, if any, apps designed to decrease sunburn may have on peoples’ sun exposure behaviours.

You can participate in this research if you are over 18 years old, are regularly outdoors, own a Smartphone and live in Queensland, Australia. Individuals who have been previously diagnosed with melanoma, an organ transplant recipient, or taking medications that induce skin photosensitivity (your skin is sensitive to the sun) are not eligible for this study.

Participants will be asked to use the app for a two week period during April 2018 and take part in an online survey after using the app.

Participants who complete the study enter a prize draw to win one of 6 x $100 Coles/Myer gift cards.

Please note that this study has been approved by the QUT Human Research Ethics Committee (approval number 1800000182). The Participant Information Sheet can be downloaded here.

To take part in the study, email Dr Elke Hacker skntec@qut.edu.au or phone 3138 9674.
